For less bamboozling viewing, The Detectorists gets its first outing on BBC2 tonight. The Bafta-award winner stars Mackenzie Crook and Toby Jones as metal-detector enthusiasts and is gentle comedy at its finest. It's a slow burn, but there is real poetry to the writing, and power to the performances.
